One photogenic morning I captured an old growth Western Red Cedar roughly 10 feet wide at the butt. The big tree resides next to the Antler Lake Trail in Gold River. I wish I had someone with me for reference as to how wide this cedar was at its base. I did my best to use the light and surrounding smaller trees as a guide but the smaller trees were too small to use properly. Even still the light was nice and actually highlighted the height of the Red Cedar perfectly.
If you look at another print of mine with two red cedars next to a small wooden bridge over a weland area, you will see two cedars that are roughly half the size of this big ole girl. This print also hangs on the Courtenay Whitespot wall for a much better view.
